Blog Review

Blog Name: Comics in Crisis

Author: Brian Reaves

Opinion: Though this blog was updated in July. It was two years prior that the author actually posted a new entry in it. This was more than likely because of Brian Reaves lack of interest in writing about anything regarding comic books at the time (Thor now being female, was more than enough to convince him to write a new article about Marvel’s usual “lame” way of rebooting a character to a new gender for shock value and how it’s usually lame). That being said, the actual blog itself is nice, as it features a variety of article relating to comic books. As simple as some of them may be, author Reaves really goes into nice detail, and shows his appreciation and knowledge of comic books. He talks about a variety of subjects relating to comic books, why they work and why they don’t (comic book movies into films, certain events in comic books etc…). He also has a poll that he used to update weekly, until he stopped posting on the blog for a few years. Though not a popular blog by any means, it’s a well done blog in terms of posts and variety.

The actual blog itself is pretty generic looking. Having a rather bland yellowish bluish blackground. The blog’s main “cover” is quite excellent, as it depicts various comic book characters looking sad, having been through or suffering major loses in their lives (Lois Lane holding Superman’s “dead” body, Spider-Man and The Death of Gwen Stacy, Green Arrow screaming in doom on the cover of Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 etc…).

Overall Grade for this blog: B+. Well done Mr. Reaves.
